Another Good Year for Giving Back
Everyone here at Allen Field strongly believes in giving back to the community. Throughout the year, we participate in events and causes that further our sense of social responsibility. This year, we proudly supported numerous causes. Here are the highlights:
We kicked off 2018 by collecting food donations for Island Harvest, a food bank for Long Island, a member of Feeding American. Our team donated food, along with household cleaning goods.
In March, Allen Field could not ignore the growing concern regarding single-use and disposable items. To do our part, we’ve eliminated paper cups in our headquarters. Each employee received a reusable mug for participating in this campaign. In conjunction with this campaign, we launched two new pages on our website: Environmental Responsibility and Social Responsibility. We hope our efforts inspire others and show how simple it can be to make a difference!
In September, Fruit of the Loom held their Annual United Way Golf Outing. Allen Field was represented by Rob Ahearn, who helped United Way’s Imagination Library program raise over $67,000. United Way’s outreach is worldwide and seeks to improve the lives of our fellow man in the areas of health, education, and financial stability. The Imagination Library program, helps underprivileged children get a head start on reading before they reach Kindergarten by sending them one book a month from when they are 2 years old until their entry into school.
In October, Team Allen Field raised awareness and funds for stroke survivors by participating in the Long Island Comeback Trail. This event sought to empower stroke survivors, and their caregivers, to come back strong! We raised over $2,500 to support the stroke rehabilitation and prevention efforts of the National Stroke Association.
To round out the year, we are currently collecting donations to support two local charities, The Inn and Hope House Ministries. We are collecting clothing, cleaning products, and non-perishable food items for young people and families here on Long Island.
Throughout the year, environmental responsibilities are always on our mind. Being a manufacturer of plastic components gives us a great opportunity to make a difference. A wide variety of Allen Field components are made with a biodegradable additive or can be made with 100% recycled material. Did you know – many of our handles, box clips, and POP display accessories can be used more than once?! Our customers are encouraged to develop a reuse program to recapture these products from consumers.
